Magic Shows

...................................................................................................................................................................
We all sighed, "Oh, wow!" as Jonathon opened his fingers to reveal a $10 note where a $5 note had been just a couple of seconds earlier.

We were sitting in our school hall, watching the first of two amazing magic shows on Catholic Schools' Day in 2016.
Jonathon's tricks were so clever and, every time he spoke, he made us laugh. Many times, I wiped the tears from my eyes. I hadn't laughed so much for ages.

My favourite trick was when Jonathon ............
The second show was familiar. El Gregoe visits our school every year. His show comes with a message - make St Paul's a bully-free school. He always brings birds for his show - my favourite was 'Peachy'. Peachy can speak, even in Maori. He said, "Kia ora!"
At the end of the show, I was completely amazed when El Gregoe lay down on a narrow table. He closed his eyes and Sue, his wife, stood beside him.
Very, very slowly, El Gregoe began to float. My mouth dropped and I gazed at the sight in awe. He rose higher and higher, above the table. I couldn't take my eyes off him. Sue passed her hands above and below his body to show us there were no strings. As slowly as he rose, he began to lower back to the table.
When he was back on the table, he stood up and we all clapped in amazement. What a trick! I wish I knew how he did it!
