Holy Thursday

Good morning.
On Sunday - Palm Sunday - we celebrated that Jesus, on a donkey, was welcomed into Jerusalem as the king.

Why was he there? He was there to celebrate the Passover Feast with his friends.
What is the Passover? The Passover Feast was a feast that Jews celebrated every year and Jesus' family was a Jewish family.
Back in the time when God's people, led by Moses, were slaves in Egypt, the Egyptian King would not let God's people go, even though Moses begged and begged. Finally, the king let God's people go when the first born of every family in Egypt died, except for the first-born in the Jewish families. The Jewish family spread blood on their doorposts so that the 'angel of death' would pass over their houses.
Passover celebrated that God's people were, at last, freed.
The Passover feast that we remember today, was the Last Supper that Jesus ever had on earth because, after it, Jesus was arrested and taken away to be crucified.
