- Writing - 3 pieces of writing on Storyathon - Keep working on Apollo's Escape, Ava. A couple of spelling errors, Ella, in your invitation to fix then upload it to Seesaw. Samuel, fix spelling errors and add fullstops in Apollo's Escape. Samuel, Rad Rides needs more details to show us what it looks like. Describe the jet boosts. We can't see what it looks like - size, colour, shape, other features. Your story, Storm Cloud Blues is imaginative. well done. Fix up the spelling errors, add a couple of fullstops and think about why you have used capital letters. Every time you use a capital letter, it is for a reason. Can you give a reason for each of your capital letters? Mitchell, did you read the instructions for your piece of writing?

- Autumn Leaves Art - instructions are in your book. Have a think about what will happen to your art when it is hung up.

Monday - Welcome back. It has been a long time since we have all seen each other and you may be feeling excited to see each other again, or you may be feeling anxious or nervous about coming back. You might be feeling quite relaxed. Whatever feelings you are having, it is ok, because all of us will be feeling like that, as well. Talk to each other and listen to each other about how you are feeling. During the day, you might have different feelings - it might be like being on a rollercoaster. Choose a car, write your name on it and put it somewhere on the rollercoaster.
During the day, remember to wash your hands
This week, we are remembering a letter that Pope Francis wrote 5 years ago, called Laudate Si' - Care for our Common Home - What is our common home? During morning prayer, watch this video -

Recycling challenge: Make something from God’s creation (a flower, an animal, a person) using items from your recycling bin! OR using the theme for Laudato Si Week 2020, “Everything is Connected” complete one of the activities in the Caritas Kaitiaki 2 Share competition.

1. Kiwi Kids News - Read the articles from last week so that you can get all last week's quiz questions correct - the user name and password are on your Home School page in your Writing Folder in your Drive. This must be finished today.
2. Read at least 3 articles on Kiwi Kids News. Open your Reading Folder in Drive. Add a slide about each article you read - who, when, where, what. Write your response to each article. Add a photo to each article.
3. Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere - Read the article and answer the comprehension questions. Follow Up - Work on creating an Autumn Diamante Poem and turn colourful autumn leaves into a work of art. Take a photo and upload it into Seesaw.
4. Just One Wheel - class project - Goal Setting
5. Epic - If you haven't already, read the three books that have been set for you - The Shipwrecked Sailor, The Magic Scooter and The Night of the Were Boy or Weird But True Facts About Inventions. The Quizzes must be completed until you get 100%. Screenshot the certificate and insert it into the relevant slide in your Reading Folder on Drive. If you have read the three set books, choose a book to read and design a response - choose from ................
Writing
1. Write at least 3 pieces on Storyathon - choose from the Quick Writes, the 100 word, A Different World - Living in Lockdown, or the Full Write. By Friday, look at the teacher feedback on your pieces of writing and revise your writing to make it better. When it has no errors and is the best that you can do, copy and paste it into your Writing Folder, then upload it into Seesaw.

Bubble Art with the chalk and pastels on black paper.

- At home, create a piece of bubble art by mixing 2 tablespoons of paint with 2 tablespoons of dish washing liquid and 1 tablespoon of water. Use a straw to blow into the mixture to make bubbles. Press a piece of paper up to the bubble mixture. Take a photo of it and post it on Seesaw.

TASKS - Choose from the following:

1. ART - Draw a picture of​ ​the empty chair at the back of the class, or draw Ahmet, or draw a picture of Tom, Josie and Michael.
2. Who are the characters that have been introduced into the story so far? Make a list of them and write a sentence describing each one. Add to your character list as the story goes on.
3. Make a list of 11 questions you could ask Ahmet. Present them in a cool way.
4. In class, they were learning about photosynthesis. What is it? Could you grow something in your class?
5. Make the paper plane that the narrator made with the message to Ahmet.
6. WRITING - Pretend you are Ahmet and write a diary entry for your first day at school.
7. RESEARCH - The story takes place in London. Research the city of London. Where is London? How far away is it from New Zealand? What famous landmarks does London have?
8. HANDS-ON - Make sherbet to give to Ahmet.
